Delhi Rain: Red Alert Issued as Fresh Showers Lash Capital, Disrupt Gurugram Traffic

Delhi witnessed fresh rain and thunderstorms on Saturday as the weather office issued a red alert. Rainfall affected several areas, while waterlogging disrupted traffic in Gurugram following Friday’s heavy showers.

Heavy rains lashed several parts of the national capital on Saturday, prompting the weather office to issue a red alert for Delhi and bringing respite from the hot and humid conditions a day after heavy showers battered the city.

A fresh spell of rain swept across several parts of Delhi on Saturday morning. According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), Palam, Jafarpur, Lodhi Road, Safdarjung and Ridge recorded light to moderate rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms.

The weather department forecast a generally cloudy sky with moderate rain throughout the day. The temperature in Delhi stood at 26.4 degrees Celsius at 8:30 am.

The fresh rainfall also affected key stretches in Gurugram, where accumulated rainwater disrupted traffic movement and caused inconvenience to commuters.

The showers came a day after heavy downpours lashed parts of the national capital on Friday afternoon, disrupting flight operations at Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International (IGI) Airport.
